Good Morning to all this fine Monday MORNING!

Welcome to the BLOG. We are reading the blog as a class as the laptops are still not available, but it is also a nice way to learn how to do this nightly homework assignment!

We are embarking on our first lesson in flipping the class, that is, where the instructions are video taped and presented in mrsmathatee's blog! You will be watching several short videos and taking notes on each of them in your graphic organizers.  ( If you have forgotten your graphic organizer, take notes on a small piece of paper and then glue this into the organizer when you get to school!) I will be checking that these notes are indeed done as that is evidence that you have watched the video instruction.  But for today and possibly this week, this viewing and note taking will take place in class.  So, after the class watches these videos, we will be going into the worksheets as teams.

Now onto the lesson.  Today's lesson is on RATES and the CCSS ( Common Core State Standard) is 7.RP.2 and 7.RP.2b( 7 is your grade level; RP is the Domain of Rates and Proportional Relationships; and 2 and 2b are  the second part of this standard) and the Mathematical Practices 1,3,4, and 5.

The vocabulary words for the lesson is Rate and Unit Rate- Rate is a comparison of 2 different things - such as time and distance.  Is often looks like a fraction!   Unit Rate is when this rate has a denominator of 1.  Have a Unit Rate makes it easy to compare things like which food is the best price. This is a bit confusing but should not be soon.
Meet Little LOLA- she is one of our four little ladies in our home.
Classwork: Watch the videos and
take notes in your Graphic Organizer:
Rates and Proportions Ex 1 page 10
Rates and Proportions Ex 2 page 11
Rates and Proportions Ex 3 page 11
Rates and Proportions Ex 4 page 12

Classwork: Open your text book and do the following:
pages 13 & 14  # 1-10 all
page 16  # 19-22 all
Challenge by Choice:  Do the above work but even numbers only plus page 14  # 11-15
page 15 # 22 a b c

As always in MATH,
Mrs M
