Good Evening to all,
I hope you noticed that we skipped lesson 3 as I think we will cover this in class today. So we are off to lesson 4 and there is no vocabulary you need to know other than unlike fractions. These are fractions that have different denominators. No need to add this into your vocabulary as it is commonly known.
The hard part in this lesson is to make the denominators the same- or same size pieces. There are many ways to do this, such as number lines, manipulatives and others, but I will be showing you a very organized and simple manner to do this. If your ANSWER contains a fraction, you MUST simplify the fraction. There are a few steps and shortcuts in doing this. WRITE THESE DOWN in your Graphic Organizers on the BACK COVER of chapter 4!! You will find these in the last video of the day. The other tricky thing is NOW YOU WILL BE USING THE NEGATIVE RULES with all problems. Your secret word is negatives!
Kaleb's little pup! She is so sweet! Homework: Read the blog, watch the videos and take notes in your graphic organizer. PLUS, put this in your portfolio.
