Chapter 8.2

Good evening Girls and Boys

Here are the videos on chapter 8, lesson 2.
This Lesson is all about finding the area of the circle and semicircle.
Our secret word is “semicircle” I also want to define the term Semicircle in your graphic organizer.
In this lesson we will learn how to find the area of a circle when given the radius.
and we will also learn how to find the area of a circle  when given just the diameter.
I will also talk to about how to find the radius when given the area of a circle, which is basically solving a one step equation.
Here is a puzzle I want you to try. Please show your work in your graphic organizer
2 + 2 is not always equal to 4. Can you think of a situation where 2 + 2 is not equal to 4.

Can you guess what Katie's picture is of?????
I think it is a pooch!  What do you think?

Homework: Read the blog, take notes in the graphic organizer, complete vocabulary and post in your portfolio for Chapter 8.2 Circles.

As always in MATH,

Chapter 8.1 Circles = Measuring Figures in the standard of Geometry

Good evening Girls and Boys

We are switching gear to chapter 8: Measure Figures. In this chapter we will be focusing on finding circumference, area of a circle and area of composite figure.
Here are the videos on chapter 8, lesson 1.
This Lesson is about Circumference.
The circumference is the distance around a circle much like perimeter - the distance around a polygon.
In this lesson we will learn about the relationship between the diameter and circumference of a circle.
Define all the terms in the vocabulary video in your graphic organizer -  circle; diameter; circumference; radius
It is really important that you know your vocabulary word in this unit.

"Hi Everybody.
My name is Allie and I take care of Kate.
When you see her, tell her how cute I am!!"

Homework: Read the blog, take notes in your graphic organizer, complete vocabulary and post in portfolio for Chapter 8.1 Circles

Chap. 7.3 Triangle in the Geometry Standard

Good evening Girls and Boys

Here are the videos on chapter 7, lesson 3.
This Lesson is about Triangles.
In this lesson we will learn different name of triangles and how they got their names.
For example:
A triangle with one obtuse angle and no congruent sides will be calls an obtuse scalene triangle.
It is call obtuse because it has an obtuse angle,
and scalene because it has no congruent sides.
Define all the terms in the vocabulary video in your
 graphic organizer

It is really important that you  Know and UNDERSTAND your vocabulary words in this unit.
This is LU...... she is the albino bunny of Shawn's!!! How much sweetness is she?!!!
Homework: Read the blog, watch the videos, take notes in graphic organizer and complete your vocabulary and post in Portfolio for chapter 7!

Chap. 7.2 Complementary and Supplementary Angles in the Geometry Standard

Good evening Girls and Boys

Here are the videos on chapter 7, lesson 2.
This Lesson is about Complementary and Supplementary Angles.
Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90 degrees.
Two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measure is 180 degrees.
We will be using our vocabulary word to set up one and two steps equations, and then solve them to find missing angles.
Write down the definition of complementary and supplementary angles in your graphic organizer in your own words COMPLETE with Example.
What a beauty!  This is Zoe's little kitty, Burt.

It is really important that you know your vocabulary word in this unit.

Chapter 7.1 ANGLES in the Geometry Standard

Good evening Girls and Boys
For the next three week I will be teaching every lesson.
We will start Unit 4, which is Geometry.
During this unit we will be jumping around between the 2 chapters: Geometric Figure, and Measure Figure.
Just a heads up - this unit is all about vocabulary.
You have to know your vocabulary words
to be able to solve the problems.
And you are going to rely heavily on the previous Unit 3: Expression and Equation to solve problems in this unit4.
Here are the videos on chapter 7, lesson 1.
This Lesson is about Classifying Angles.
In this lesson we will learn different name of angles, their measurements, and symbols.
Define all the terms in the vocabulary video into your graphic organizer. Make sure these are meaningful and in your own words.

Here is a puzzle I want you to try. Please show your work in your graphic organizer.
Cluck Cluck! Meet Mia 's Chicken!  Hee hee hee..... love this!

Jack and Jill did not have much success when they went up the hill to fetch a pail of water from the well. However, once they had both tumbled down the other side they found the pond and decided to get the water from there instead.

The problem was that they wanted 7 liters exactly. Jack's bucket held 5 liters and Jill's bucket held 3 liters. How did they bring back 7 liters? No guessing!

Chapter 6.5 More 2 STEP EQUATIONS! in Expressions and Equations Standard.

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is so nice to bring you even more problems on 2 step equations!  This lesson puts all the steps together- Distributive Property; Negative Rules, Rational Coefficients, and word problems! Could you ask for anything more?  Lucky you.  You MUST define all of the above terms and have them in your graphic organizers in THIS lesson.  So, go back and find these words in the blogs or videos if not already done.
Can you find ALBERT?  He is hiding.  He belongs to Quinn.  What a nice pet to have.

Homework: Read the blog, define the terms, watch the videos, and post in your graphic organizer.
As always in MATH,
Mrs M and Mr B
