Chapter 3.2 INTEGERS 7.NS.3 7.EE.3

Good Evening to all,  I hope that each one of you had a pleasant Thanksgiving meal with family and friends,
and you were able to enjoy some extra sleep in time.

And now that you are rested, we are moving on to INTEGERS.  An integer is a whole number that is either positive or negative.  Such as - 5, 8, -19  and so on.  It is NOT -5.3, or 8.2, or -19.4! Only WHOLE NUMBERS are integers.  But with integers like everything in math, we need to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them.  But most of you are very familiar with them and use them freely: weather is 7*below 0 (-7)  I owe my mom $8 (-8) and so on.

In this lesson we will learn more vocabulary, and the 2 words we have now are Opposites and Additive Inverse- these are about the same things.  Opposite numbers are talking about the signs of the numbers, so +3 -3   -10 +10 are examples and if you add them together you will ALWAYS get 0!!! So look for these in your problems and it will be far easier to solve.
Additive Inverse is the same- you are adding the opposite number and you will always get 0.

So, enough of this chatter and off to the lesson on INTEGERS.
Meet sweet little Carly.  Sophia owns this little ball of fur!

Homework: Read the blog, take notes in your graphic organizer, and complete your vocabulary in your portfolio.

As always in MATH,
Mrs M
